“I loved being in Emma’s world, even when things were so dark that I found myself worried for her. The journey of her life through the past three books has literally left me out of breath. I wanted to like this book although there was a lot of filler and repetition I liked the story, the plot and the characters. I had to remind myself that Amazon had marketed it as a teen series so I gave leeway for that but come on...

What was with the POV change in the book I hated it. It came out of nowhere and was distracting.

*******SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU PLAN ON READING BOOK 3*****

How does Emma keep cutting off people that way with no COMMUNICATION.

It's one thing to have misunderstandings but between Emma and Sara not speaking to Jared and Evan this juvenile OK then I get that.

I actually liked how the character Emma develops in the beginning she is just like her mother in many ways. She is self-centered, selfish and self-absorbed. She wallows in her own pain and does not care who else she hurts because she is focused on her own misery. She uses every man in her life to self medicate. She uses Gev and Cole to fill her time like her mother used men to stave off pain and loneliness.

I thought she was on a good path to changing herself and her life from Book 1 to Book 2. By the end of Book 3 I could neither empathize or sympathize with her decisions.

I thought there would have been some resolution to the story that she would have gotten some help. I thought she would have seen the similarity in herself and her mother. Maybe she could have changed her life and stop following the same pattern over and over with these men.

Cole was a nice character and she treated him like he was disposable after he was a friend to her. I was happy that she was honest with Evan at the end of the book but then she goes looking for Jonathan again. She does things to continually self sabotage her happiness and the happiness of those around her. She has no regard for reality or the feelings of those around her. She wants people only around on her terms and they can go to hell if they push too far.

This is not a character that I end up rooting for or liking because she just never got better. Her situation got better but she did not. This is actually a story about a person with mental issues. I did not like the ending because I felt she was just as unstable and unbalanced and selfish as she was in the beginning of the book. The only difference was Evan was there to enable her. She still could not sleep and guess what her sickness spread to Evan then he was having trouble sleeping too.

After all of that she ends up rubbing Evans face in the fact that she bought the house and he bought a room. I didn't feel any real LOVE from her.

How could she possibly love Evan when she did not even love herself. At least with counseling or some help maybe she could have found the love that her father had given her at the foundation of life and built from there. She was just a person that could not cope with life and found someone that would help them do it. Didn't like this at all.

Maybe the author should try with one more book to resolve the character and not leave her hanging in emotional and psychological limbo like she did then I could finally sleep through the night too.

This whole series is a great story.
By Regina
I was drawn in from the very first book. By the time I made it to the third book, I had cried and felt more emotion than I had my entire life. While I'm way past being a teenager, I am a survivor. I would recommend this book, as well as the whole series, to every survivor and everyone who loves them.

I wanted to give a much lower rating due to the fact this third book was lousy with punctuation and missing words, causing the reader to have to re-read and insert missing words and punctuation to make it make sense. Also, at times, the Emma character is wearing something strapless, but in the next paragraph of page, his straps were being lowered. The same thing with Meg and Emma playing the "Name that band/song" game they play.

I felt this final book was rushed and could have easily been more completed, probably into a fourth book. You are left with a feeling of, "wait, what about..."

But the story is good! Extremely Good....

A powerful love story as the saga continues between the two main characters, that will be impossible to put down, once you begin with book 1. In this exciting romantic suspenseful trilogy by author Rebecca Donovan, we are once again faced with the heartbreaking answers in the shocking conclusion of book 3 in The Breathing Series...........After running away from her devastating past, Emily "Emma" Thomas is tired of hiding from everyone, especially from her former life but she also knows that if she doesn't get help soon or seek forgiveness from those who she hurt the most, she could eventually die. But worst of all, she could lose the only person she ever loved, regarding the dark and sinister secret that she's been carrying around close to her heart. She also knows that by betraying those who she loved most in the world, her honesty could cost her the one person she never forgotten or left her thoughts or her heart, finding it difficult to breathe at times. Will true love save her? After living day to day out of breath, Evan Matthews tried desperately to live his life without the woman he had ever loved. Since that horrific night when she left town never looking back, Evan tried to erase the memories from his mind, heart, and soul, but couldn't forget her if his life depended on it. Taking his anger by turning to others, Evan still found it difficult to rid the hurt or th painful reminders by living without her. Vowing never to think about Emma again and believing wholeheartedly that he would never see her again, except when the day came, he was confronted with the one person he tried so desperately to forget. But when he finds himself attending a certain funeral in his hometown of Weslyn, Connecticut, he was consumed with anger, dread and resentment. With the emotions mounting up, regarding betrayal, bitterness and a love so lost and powerful, Evan believed that he could face just about anything once he saw Emma again but nothing could prepare him for the shocking truth when he discovers why Emma ran away to begin with. Will he be able to accept the truth and forgive her? Or will he lose the only woman he had ever loved before he even gets a second chance with her? Was it in the cards for Evan and Emma to be together for an entire lifetime ? When they were truly meant to be together forever and ever? Or is it definitely over between them? A compelling love story.....thank you
